Recycled Polyester for Uniforms
Recycled PET fabrics have been around for a very long time now.
Pen to Peg founder Paula Cannon was the first designer in the UK to introduce fleeces made from recycled bottles into a uniform collection. A hardwearing bonded fleece in the company brand colours of red, blue and navy was adopted by Stagecoach Buses back in 2010.
Single-use plastics account for 40% of the plastic produced every year, with some taking over 400 years to biodegrade. Around 70% of all litter in the sea is plastic and it is estimated that the amount of plastic in the sea will treble by 2025.
Pen to Peg encourage sustainable solutions like recycled polyester as it not only prevents plastic from going into landfill, it reduces the use of petroleum as a raw material, and therefore lowers overall carbon footprint.
